The Science & Art of Acupuncture involves insertion of needles into specific points on the body that are connected by 20 meridians (channels and collaterals). There are up to 2,000 different, recognized or traditional acpuncture points, but only about 350 are commonly used.

What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is a complete system of healthcare which traces its roots back more than 3,000 years and provides primary care in many parts of the world. This ancient form of Eastern Medicine has been taught in the USA for more than 35 years. Acupuncture is used for treating illness, disease and injury within the body and may include the insertion and manipulation of needles as well as the use of moxibustion (burning of mugwort herb), various bodywork techniques and/or applying an electric current to the needles in acupuncture points. Most people feel only a minimal amount of pain as the needles are inserted. When practiced by a licensed practitioner, acupuncture is extremely safe and does no harm.

What is an acupuncture treatment like? Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, with wide ranges of sensation from completely unnoticed to something like a mosquito bite. Generally 3 to 15 needles are placed in various parts of the body and the person is allowed to relax for 20 - 40 minutes.

Are the needles clean? Only single use, pre-sterilized needles are used during treatment. Each needle is very fine (the width of a human hair).

What can I expect from treatment? Acupuncture provides a safe and secure treatment approach for a variety of conditions. The patient experiences a deep relaxation and a treatment deigned to wholistically treat the body without medications or intrusive treatment.
